1. What type of permit is required to substitute teach?
If you do not have a current Indiana Teaching License OR Indiana Substitute Teacher Permit and you can obtain a Substitute Teachers Permit on-line through the DOE website. Click on the following link for directions on how to apply for your permit: https://www.in.gov/doe/educators/educator-licensing/substitute-permits/. Please make sure you list North Montgomery Comm. School Corporation as the accepting school corporation. There is a fee for the substitute permit. After you have completed the first portion of this process the state will notify us that there is an application out there to be accepted.
2. What are the requirements for substitute teaching? Substitute teachers must meet the minimum requirements established by the IDOE to obtain a substitute teacher permit. The requirements are: a.) hold a high school diploma, and |

3. What is the process to apply for a substitute position? |
|
a.) Complete an online application for substitute teaching on the list of current job openings.
b.) Check your email (including your spam) for an email from the school district asking you to complete four forms, including a background check. These are necessary to complete the process. If you have an expanded background check from Safe Hiring Solutions through another Corporation and it is less than 5 years old, we may be able to accept it.
c.) When you meet with HR, you will need to bring i.d. to satisfy your Federal I9 (either a valid passport or a valid driver’s license and social security card or birth certificate) – check the Federal I9 form to see what qualifies for i.d., a voided check and your social security card to verify your name and number.
4. What is the Pay for Substituting at NMCSC? |

- Substitute Teacher pay rate is $90.00 for a full day/$45 for a half day assignment.
- Retired NMCSC teacher’s pay rate is $100.00 for a full day/$50 for a half day assignment (must still hold a valid IN teaching license).

The daily rate for substitute teachers is established by the Board of School Trustees. After fifteen consecutive days working for the same teacher, a substitute who holds a valid Indiana Teacher License, will receive the daily regular teacher pay rate (no benefits). A person holding only a Substitute Certificate will not receive higher pay for long-term substituting.
