1:1 Device Initiative
Charging Forward-Changing Futures
North Montgomery recognizes and embraces the changing landscape of education and the essential role that technology plays. The district has implemented a 1:1 initiative using Chromebooks in grades 3-12 and iPads in grades K-2 to help students prepare for a global world. Our approach incorporates a blended model of e-Learning, utilizing 1:1 devices with textbooks and digital content. The objectives are to provide e-Learning opportunities that will:
- Increase 21st Century skills
- Increase differentiated learning
- Create connected learners
- Increase student achievement
21st century learning requires daily, unrestricted and spontaneous access to current information and resources. Instruction will be transformed by providing resources to teachers that allow them to motivate, engage, and challenge students in terms of 21st century skills. Planning and implementation of instruction will be streamlined to infuse lessons with technology and applications designed to improve student learning and achievement. Students will learn in a technology rich environment which promotes critical thinking, creativity, collaboration, communication, digital age literacy, and high productivity as integral parts of their lives both in and out of school. We envision a learning environment where students master content while producing, synthesizing, and evaluating information from a wide variety of subjects and sources. We believe the investment in this initiative is vital to producing students that are ready and competitive for life after secondary education.
